Is there a young crime fiction author in your life? If they are a student in grades 5&6 they can use Kevin Sylvesters’ story starter for their murder mystery entry into the Write Across Ontario Contest that is open until November 8, 2013.
The contest is for students in grades 5-12 and has story starters in four categories that are divided among the grades. It’s a great concept and the results should prove an interesting read when the winners are published online in Open Book
How about something for the adults? Tap into the Lit Reactor’s Flash (Crime) Fiction Smackdown. You have until November 26 to submit 100 words.
If there is a chance you will be in Ottawa tonight then head straight to see Canadian crime author Peggy Blair at the Arnprior Public Library, 21 Madawaska Street. Ticket info available at the Writer’s Festival. Meanwhile, for those who won’t be able to attend, here’s a sneak peek on YouTube from Penguin.
It’s a breezy, cloudy November day in Toronto, with mixed weather ahead. Don’t you think you should wrap up and enjoy a weekend at the IFOA anyway?

Thanks for the plug, much appreciated! We had a lot of fun in Arnprior — gorgeous library!
I so wished I could have just “dropped in.” Glad to hear everyone had a great time.
I am looking forward to adding Inspector Ramirez to my reading list.
Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog and hope to hear from you again down the road.
