Reading is my addiction as you must well know by now, and that means I read voraciously and quickly. Far quicker than most people, though occasionally I am bested by someone, not that it matters. What does matter to me is the ability to be immersed and enthralled by a book and satisfied by its conclusion.
When I review a book or discuss it with friends I don’t hash over math, technology, or science. I talk about scenarios and atmosphere. Or enthuse on personalities, their relationship to each other, and the complexity of plot.
Coming across an article on speed reading the other day I had a pretty mixed reaction. Firstly, I thought, ‘no way’, I don’t want to interfere with being nose deep into the book’s characters. Secondly, I wondered if there could be value in this for me.
While the software program being promoted focused mainly on business types and students I did pick-up two reading tips that I had heard of but never practiced. While I am not promoting this or any speed reading program have a look at Sweeping and Widening Focus from the 7SpeedReading Blog.
What do you think? Would you consider a speed reading program to help you along with your book habit?

Interesting that there is a reading program to speed up your reading! I am a natural speed reader and found it most beneficial when I was at university! I can read and absorb a book a day, sometimes two if I am at a loose end and they’re shortish in length. I suffer from insomnia most nights so that helps as well 🙁
Yes, it does seem a bit odd doesn’t it 🙂
That’s an amazing amount of reading you can manage in just one day I hope it helps with the insomnia which I’m sure must be terribly frustrating.
