Florida Roadkill: Off the walker in the 27th state

If the Cohen brothers were to write a book this would be the one. Fortunately we have Tim Dorsey making his mark with the printed word.

Florida Roadkill is violent, extreme, and funny as hell. It has a cast of characters as long as some parolee’s rap sheets, and enough stories to fill another book. Thank goodness for airbags because fastening your seatbelts for this one won’t do the trick. However, if you are prone to jittery LSD flashbacks then this book will read at a normal pace for you.

Serge Storms is an ex-con, history buff and souvenir trinket connoisseur, who with his former cellmate Coleman and cokehead beauty Sharon, are on the trail of five million in a suitcase. So are several other people, including a drug cartel.

One side-story of three bikers and a senior’s trailer park was pure fun and overall I couldn’t wait to see what the next page in this book would bring. I laughed as much as I went: “ewww that is twisted.”

Dorsey is a prolific author with sixteen other books and his website kindly lists the ones that are in linear story order as well as publishing order. This is helpful for those who want to read more about some characters while they are still alive. Triggerfish Twist is the first book where Serge, Coleman and Sharon appear but was the fourth book published.

For those of you who think Florida is only about seniors, 5pm early bird specials and bingo here’s another portion of life you won’t forget.
