    • Hello Guy, I’m asking myself if it’s possible to be happy and chagrined at the same time about ignorance of all but one of these writers?

Well yes, as I am excited to discover them and I always fully acknowledge that I have so much to learn about this genre that I love.

So to your question. I have read Robert Rotenberg’s work before so can easily say based on that, to give his Stranglehold a try. Otherwise it’s a shot in the dark, but let’s face it they are on the long list for an Arthur Ellis Award.

      • June, I am very pleased and honoured to be included in the longlist for the 2014 Arthur Ellis Award for best crime novel. The Rainy Day Killer is the fourth in the Donaghue and Stainer Crime Novel series, which started with Blood Passage in 2011. If your readers like police procedurals, they might like to give my series a try. I have worked in law enforcement and have done all the homework. I think they’ll love the characters, especially series favorite Karen Stainer. Thanks for posting to give exposure to the long list. All the best!

      • Hello Michael, thanks so much for taking the time to comment and share your anticipation with us. Now I have no choice but to follow along with fingers crossed for you.

I hope you had some time to look at the other posts on the blog. If so, you will note that I seek out authors and their books that are (mainly) unknown to the world at large, and yet to hit the bestseller lists. Even should that be their goal.

Canadian crime fiction is close to the heart and I looked longingly at the authors and the books on the Arthur Ellis list when it was released. I do enjoy police procedurals and wonder, shall I go straight for The Rainy Day Killer or begin with your debut book – Blood Passage?

Thanks for dropping by and we await with baited breath for the Arthur Ellis short-list announcement on April 24th. Best of luck!
