The Last Witness: Denzil Meyrick

The Last Witness by Denzil Meyrick, Book Review Murder In Common

Retribution comes home to roost

A villain thought dead for five years has returned to wreck vengeance and DCI Jim Daley is in stunned disbelief. Having attended the autopsy of James Machie, after he was assassinated in an assault on his prison bus, how can he possibly still be alive?

At risk is Frank MacDougall who turned state’s evidence against Machie and refused relocation via witness protection. DS Scott and DCI Daley know they are also at the forefront of this revenge and as they unravel the mystery of Machie’s reappearance more questions than answers arise.

Meyrick’s novel takes us to the Scottish town of Kinloch. It’s a small town and Daley has to get used to everyone knowing his business. At the same time he enjoys the warmth and humour of the people in his new posting. It’s a mixed bag for him and enjoyable read for us.

There are now 5 books in the DCI Daley Thriller Series written by Denzil Meyrick.

  1. This sounds intriguing. I would like to read this book. Any time a dead guy is up and running, that’s an alluring story line.
