Barry Eisler: Livia Lone

Livia Lone Barry Eisler, Book Review Murder In Common

Sold

Livia is a freak in the bedroom. She must have absolute control. Sometimes things work out okay. Other times she meets aggression with brutal finality. There are reasons of course. All of them understandable, none of them sustainable. In a book about loss and vengeance it’s irrelevant.

Born Labee in the Lahu hill country of Thailand, she and her sister Nason are young and free until sold to traffickers. Along their journey to the USA they are separated. When police capture the traffickers and free their victims, they are uncertain how to handle the only child, Labee. Along comes Frederick Lone who adopts her. He’s rich, powerful, twisted. It’s not rescue, but depraved captivity.

Years later as a Seattle detective working with a sex crimes unit, she finally has enough information to track down those who have taken possession of Nason. Will finding her bring salvation?

Livia Lone is a fast, captivating read and series opener. You’ll enjoy it.
