Brian Klingborg: Kill Devil Falls

Kill Devil Falls Brian Klingborg

Gold in the hills

U.S. Marshal Helen Morrissey is annoyed. She’s been assigned the mundane task of prisoner pick-up and transport. Worse, she has to drive to the town of Kill Devil Falls to get her. Virtually abandoned for years, the town has only a few people within its borders of contaminated water and sink holes.

Danger starts with Morrissey’s drive into town in a rigged vehicle and keeps up. When her car is totally disabled and her prisoner murdered, Morrissey is on high alert. Who is friend of foe among the few residents left?

Morrissey’s character is a scrappy foil for assorted creeps and geeks but entertaining nonetheless. A page turner from Brian Klingborg with a good depth of nastiness.

    • Hahaha! A very good question and the answer would be personal for everyone.
The vast majority of books I read are contemporary noir, so that is my basis for comparison.
Is it as deep, dark and nasty as The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo? No.
But the characters are as nasty as Harry Hunsicker’s The Devil’s Country.
I’ve chosen best sellers that may provide a good reference point for you.
      Thoughts…?
