Olivia Kiernan: Too Close to Breathe

Too Close To Breathe Olivia Kiernan

Breathless

Detective Chief Super Frankie Sheehan is back on the job. Badly injured by a killer from a previous case, she wants no pity. Her team respect her but are cautious. There is some concern about PTSD.

No escaping her keen eye though. Her first case is the death is Dr. Eleanor Costello and the suicide that isn’t.

Sheehan’s background in profiling helps the case, bringing her and Detective Baz Harwood into the dark web and a site called Black Widow.

At the same time Sheehan is preparing to testify at the trial of the man who tried to kill her, causing her  medical leave. Her senses are saying something isn’t right with that arrest. She does her best to deal with the stress.

Sheehan is a damned engaging character and Olivia Kiernan has turned out a great book in Too Close to Breathe. An excellent police procedural, and definitely a writer to watch.

  1. Glad to hear this is a good read re: police procedure. Because I have no background in it, sometimes I wonder how accurately police procedures are portrayed.
