Laird Barron: Blood Standard

Ready, set, go!

One thing very important to know about Isaiah Coleridge, you never hurt the innocent. Children, elderly, mentally challenged, animals. Don’t ever kick a dog around him. As a contract killer and enforcer for the mafia, that’s valuable information.

Forced to relocate after a situation gone bad in Alaska, he’s now in upstate New York healing from the incident. He works on a farm and the hard physical labour suits him. He likes the people he spends his days with.

The mob is on periphery, keeping an eye on him. But it’s when the teenage granddaughter of the farm owners goes missing that Coleridge finds a new mission.

This is the first book I’ve read by Laird Barron and won’t be the last. It’s rough, violent, tender, sweet, and much more. Blood Standard really is the book that’s hard to put down.

  1. Never kick the dog! Love when a killer has values.
