Ausma Zehanat Khan: The Unquiet Dead

What kind this justice?

Christopher Drayton has fallen to his death from the Scarborough Bluffs. Inspector Esa Khattak and his hand- picked Sargent Rachel Getty are asked to quietly investigate.

Puzzling, as the team remit for Khattak and Getty is minority sensitive cases.

So begins an amazing book by Ausma Zehanat Khan. It will take you on a harrowing journey into the former Yugoslavia where societal disintegration and cruelty were the lead-in to much more. And now years later, the fallout.

More on the literary side, an outstanding read. It will stay with you.

  1. Inspectors and sergeants (correct spelling) don’t investigate cases directly in Toronto: detectives do.

    • Hell John, nice for you to weigh-in for the first time:
      1) to correct my spelling (thank you), and
      2) to advise me of something I already know. For my own reasons I left out Detective Sergeant in Getty’s full title 🙂
For those interested in reading the book you will discover this team has ties to high levels within the Canadian government. Their remit is not particularly tidy
      Best…
