Jane Harper: The Dry

The Dry A Novel Jane Harper Book Review, Murder In Common

Heat – Drought

Hatred – Murder

Aaron Falk left Kiewarra, Australia as a teenager, driving away from rancor and suspicion. Many years later, now a Federal Agent in Melourne, he returns for the funeral of his childhood friend Luke. The friend whom many believe killed his wife and child, before killing himself.  Regional police have ruled it a murder, suicide.

Local officer Sergeant Raco, has concerns. He pokes around the crime scene and finds a partner in Falk. They begin a hesitant partnership while Falk deals with the active malice of the town. His  concern – why are the interviews and leads looping to nowhere?

The land is dry and the cows die. As the farming community swelters with relentless drought, the temperature of the people is as hot as the sun.

The Dry is a good debut by Jane Harper.

This title has been on my radar for a while now as it has been getting a lot of positive reviews. I will try to get to it sometime in 2018.
