Tod Goldberg: Only Way Out

Robert Green and Penny Green, brother and sister. He’s a run of the mill Harvard guy, she’s quite the genius.

The Baer & Harris legal firm where Robert works has client safety deposit boxes, and he knows the contents of every one of them.

A successful heist is pulled off, but an icy, fatal crash means Robert never meets-up with Penny at the beach town of Granite Shores.

Corrupt cop, Jack Biddle finds the crash site and the loot. It’s a dream come true and a future bright with promise and power blooms.

Mitch Diamond, ex-con, smart, dangerous, and opportunistic. He operates like a fixer with a hidden history, bringing outside pressure, muscle, and the ability to charm.

All of these incidents are quite the package and Tod Goldberg’s humor is pitch-black. The violence is brisk, and the twists feel earned because everyone is lying for a reason.

Only Way Out is a nasty, breathless, gloriously satisfying ride. You’ll devour it in a weekend and the last twist will linger like seawater in your mouth.

This sounds like the sort of book you read when you’re in the mood for a darkly funny, gritty story, June. I like the sound of the characters already, and I can see how the plot would keep a person engaged. Glad you enjoyed it.
