Journalist Bettina Blazak is reporting on a Tijuana, Mexico, animal shelter when she sees him. A street dog she falls in love with and so takes him home with her, naming him Felix.
There is much more to Felix than expected. He’s incredibly well trained, so curiosity about him prompts Blazak to investigate his journey. From Felix’s point of view, he’s unsure about this human. Could she be his new team?
Yes, part of this book is from the point of view of Felix or perhaps I should tell you now that his real name is Joe and he is a highly efficient DEA drug sniffing dog. He ended up at the shelter as the victim of a gunshot wound.
Blazak’s investigation leads her to unexpected and dangerous places, and an enigmatic man. I won’t tell you more because this unusual book is something special you need to discover yourself.
The Rescue by T. Jefferson Parker is menacing and compelling, and quite frankly, one of the most poignant crime fiction books I’ve ever read. Highly recommended.

Ooh, this one sounds delicious!!!
Definitely one to add to the TBR list.
All of his books are great, but this one is a wee bit special 🙂
Wow, that’s an interesting premise, June! I can see how this would have intrigued you, and it sounds as though the story’s got more to it than it seems on the surface.
You’re on the mark Margot-much more 🙂
