“You are one crafty woman…One devilish, crafty woman.”

Sheriff Mary Beth Cain, one capable law officer. A reputation that skirts the law to get things done. Her territory Jasper, West Virginia, her family, that’s a whole other story.
Her mother “Mountain” Mamie Logan heads up the McCray County Mafia. It’s her brother, Sawyer Thompson, who is The Moonshine Messiah. He preaches anti-government propaganda on a local radio station and has, to Cain’s surprise, become an Internet sensation.
Recently, a motorcycle gang invaded her county and she can’t quite get a handle on what they’re up to.
If that was her only problem it wouldn’t be too bad, but she’s under indictment and a lost love John Jacobs, US Attorney, is the one handling the case.
I went through The Moonshine Messiah like a hot knife through butter. Great characters, fast pace and a town and location you totally buy into. A debut series by Russel W. Johnson and a well recommended read.
