
Theodora “Teddy” Angstrom’s days are spent in exhausted mental meandering.
Her father Mark committed suicide on the 10-year anniversary of her step-sister Angie’s disappearance. A man with many issues, including drugs, he nonetheless kept up a search for answers.
Teddy has been living with her father and mother Clare. Now that there are only the two of them she is left with feelings about his death that are both smothering and unstated.
Teddy finds scribbled notes all over Mark’s office. She puts out threads in her own haphazard way to discern something, anything, from her father’s investigation.
She finds Mickey, a community college student who helped her father with his online searches. They spend a lot of time together brainstorming ideas and actions to discover what happened to Angie.
It’s a muddled mess. The attempted contact with her step-brother leads to a restraining order, she’s at odds with her students. She’s riding a Tilt-a-Whirl of collapsing possibilities.
If psychological thrillers are your thing, Rabbit Hole by Kate Brody will have you wading through a miasma of raw thoughts and feelings. A well crafted debut.
