M.E. Proctor: Love You Till Tuesday

Declan Shaw is a bit solitary in his way, but certainly not without friends and colleagues who have his back.

His one-night stand with the jazz club singer April Easton has unexpected consequences: she’s murdered and he faces questions.

Shaw is saddened and puzzled by her death but more importantly, motivated. He forms an easy relationship with Houston detective Steve Robledo as they both want the same thing – to find her killer.

But the investigation stirs up past history for Shaw. Men with wealth and power want him off the case. The lengths to achieve this are atrocious.

From the minute I read Proctor’s book of short stories – Family and Other Ailments – I’ve been waiting to read Love you Till Tuesday and I was not disappointed.

Love you Till Tuesday is rife with supporting characters who are interesting and detailed. In a way, they create the environment to understand Shaw. More than a backdrop of his life, they are components of his world and how he lives in it. You’re going to really like this one. Well recommended read.

I do love it when a book has really compelling and interesting characters, June. That can really hold a plot together and make it engaging.
