Sometimes it takes you awhile to get around to a book. You always have it in the back of your mind until one day you say, “that’s it, I’m reading that book.” So here at last is The Lost Ones by Sheena Kamal.
Nora Watts, a private investigator, is asked to find a couple’s missing daughter. The twist, it’s Watts’ biological daughter given up for adoption 15-years ago.
Watts is a cantankerous woman, who is dealing with her own difficult, and violent past. She cares little for people. Her dog Whisper has the only soft spot in her heart.
It’s the scars of her past though that have her take the case. Watts knows all too well what can happen to the vulnerable on the streets.
This is a gritty, compelling tale that took me far too long to read. Don’t make the same mistake as this one will shake-up your New Year. Well recommended read.
