I’m publishing early as I’ll be on the Seine in France on my first river cruise for the next two Sundays. See you when I’m back in Canada. Have a good few weeks!

Daisy Bellon was a young girl of nine when her father took her fishing. He sat in a chair by the water and directed her toward the best place to dump the body parts.
Daisy will never be the young girl she was meant to be. She’s haunted by Maria, the ghost of one of his kills, who can’t seem to disappear into the afterlife. And the number of missing women grow yearly.
As time goes on, her best friend Caleb moves away from Daisy into his life as a teenager. With her mother now dead life is a devastating grind of fear, guilt, and trauma.
The story moves use between the 1980s ‘coming of age,’ Daisy into 2015 where she’s on her own and living a solitary and careful life. Change begins when her next door neighbour is brutally murdered.
S.L. Woeppel has written a book unlike any other. The Butcher and the Liar is nuanced yet self-asserting story. It’s informative never overwrought, and wonderful blend of genres. Overall – Noir Crime Fiction at its best.
Highly recommended reading.
